We’re very excited to welcome Shomi Noise [Azucar] and Precolumbian [Azucar, CutN Paste, Hey Queen] to our monthly Picó Picante party.
DJ Shomi Noise is a DJ/producer, musician, and writer with an established reputation in the Brooklyn underground scene. Her DJ sets include a creative mix of genres and sounds ranging from Latin dance music, hip-hop, electrohouse, reggae, pop, indie rock and anything else that gets people dancing. Shomi is the resident DJ of Azucar! - A Queer Latin Dance Party, the monthly Brooklyn Latin dance party that has received attention form national media outlets such as Univision and ABC news, as well as publications like Time Out New York and Go! Magazine, which named the party as the Best Latin Dance Party of NYC in 2012.
Precolumbian is a philadelphia-based genderqueer dj, musician, artist, media activist, and popular educator. She transforms dancefloors into block parties with a unique blend of tropical rhythms, indie anthems, dark crystals, and booty jams from all over the globe. creating spaces that are positive, inclusive and safe; she works tirelessly to resist racism, misogyny and homophobia… in the club!
